Boy Paint Paintball

Help with buying used paint ball guns and equipment?
My nephew wants paintball guns for Christmas.
He’s been asking me for them for a couple years now. He’ll be 16 this year, and I am now considering getting them for him this Cmas.
What should I look for when buying a used paint ball gun set (I know nothing about them). I’ll be looking at either Play It Again Sports, or on Ebay.
He’ll also need the paintball bullets, along with anything else that goes with this sport.
We live in the city, but his friend lives in the country, and they have quite a few acres to play on there.
Also, his friends parents are ok with them playing there.
Please help me with this!!!
What supplies are needed. What price range should I look in? I’ll be buying 3 guns (for 3 boys total, ages 16-17). What extras are needed?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Wednesday. There are a lot of considerations but I will try to go over everything in brief. I played paintball about 10 years ago when I was the kids ages. First the basics. Each kid will need a paintball marker, a mask and a co2 tank. In addition some barrel plugs are usually a good idea.
Safety – It is also good to know the intelligence of the kids you are dealing with. Make sure they know basic things like not to shoot each other at point blank range, not to shoot each other without masks on, never to look down the barrel, etc. If you buy them barrel plugs they should be plugged in at all times until the game starts. These seem like basic things but adolescent boys can be numbskulls. Here is a list of general safety rules for paintball:
http://www.brasseagle.com/?safety
Ok my first suggestion
The cheapest paintball marker a person could bring to an actual paintball field and get any respect is the tippmann 98. The tippmann 98 is known as a rugged marker with a lot of possibilities for customizing.
Here is an example that comes with mask, co2 tank, hopper (holds the balls) and the marker at walmart for $159.00
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5223250
I would probably get your nephew one of those and then get a couple of lower ends for loaners such as maybe these
Piranha marker plus co2 tank, hopper and mask, $99.95
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5432081&findingMethod=rr#ShortReviewTitleBar
You have to purchase paintballs and co2 for the tanks. I would say the more paintballs the better..
If money is no issue I get three tippmann 98 for the kids
Money is definitely an issue for me so I’d probably look for some kind of deal on ebay. For the loaners I would also consider a spyder victor off of ebay such as in this completed auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Paintball-gun-and-accessories-SPYDER-Victor-green_W0QQitemZ120474207905QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c0cd286a1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
“Spyder” is another paintball marker that is generally known to be cheap.
If you want to get really down to the cheapest of the cheap, the just out there to have fun, look for Brass Eagle markers on ebay. Example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Brass-Eagle-Paintball-Gun-and-extras_W0QQitemZ250505486019QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3a534a5ec3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
You may want to buy a 4th gun that is really cheap such as a brass eagle in case any of the guns give the kids trouble they will have that backup.
In my experience paintball is not so cheap so I would look for deals especially if you are trying to equip 3 people.
